Case Study
I spend a lot of time traveling and keeping lists of the places I love. Go Here grew out of wanting a better home for those recommendations: an app where I can organize my favorite places around the world, see them beautifully on a map, and share them with friends when they ask where to go.
01_ The beginning
Traveling has become a habit of collecting. I spend time finding places I want to visit, then keep the ones I would return to or recommend. Over time, those lists become a personal guide to the cities I know: the places that made a trip, and the ones I want to remember next time.
Friends ask where they should go, and I find myself turning those lists into messages. The recommendations are already there; I just need to gather them and send them again. Go Here began with that small, repeated task. I wanted to keep my places organized for myself and make the same collection useful to someone else.
02_ The collection
The city gives the collection its structure. I can add a city, find a spot, and save it where it actually belongs. When I come back to a destination, the places I have gathered are together, ready to browse instead of buried in an old conversation.
A spot holds more than a pin. I can add photos from the visit, so the place looks the way it did when I was there, and give it a rating on the ten-point scale I was already using in my notes: a 9.6 says more than a heart on a map. And some spots I gatekeep. A gatekept spot stays on my map alone and never travels with the city, even to the friends I have shared that city with.
The point is to collect the places I would actually send someone to. A useful list reflects a point of view: what I liked enough to keep, where I would go back, and what I think a friend would enjoy. Keeping that selection personal is what makes it worth sharing.

03_ The map
A name in a list can be hard to place, especially in a city I do not know well. Seeing the spots on a map gives them context: which places are near each other, what is across town, and where I might want to spend an afternoon. The collection becomes something I can explore.
I also wanted it to feel good to revisit. These are places I have spent time finding and experiences I want to remember. Presenting them with care makes the collection enjoyable to look through, whether I am remembering a trip, planning a return, or showing someone a city for the first time.

04_ The handoff
When a friend asks where to go, I want to give them something they can explore at their own pace. Sharing a city keeps the places together and shows where they are. It saves me from rebuilding the same message, and gives them a clearer starting point for their own trip.
A city can be shared for someone to browse or to build together. Gatekept spots stay out of it, so keeping a personal collection does not mean sharing every part of it. The app serves both reasons I started it: looking after my own lists and passing along the places I am excited for someone else to experience.

Gatekept spots stay out. Rewrite refreshes the note after you change the collection.
